My Job
I’ve had a couple of anonymous questions about where I work. So here’s the answer: I currently work at Variety, the entertainment industry’s No. 1 daily newspaper.

Well I guess that’s not happening now that the LAPD have found a head, two hands and two feet in Bronson Canyon Park near the sign… Read about it from the LA Times.

My Mulholland Drive
I spent two hours on Monday hugging the curves of Mulholland Drive in my rather large SUV at the advice of one Los Angeles Magazine article from the “Be a Tourist in Your Own City” (December) issue. Of the issue’s 15 things to do in LA, I’ve done 14 in my year here and the 15th didn’t interest me, so I decided to discover the gorgeous canyons of LA from Mulholland,...

From the pages of the NY Times: Advice From Life’s... →
That’s NYTimes speak for advice from your elders on how to live life to the fullest. Here’s what is most pertinent to my blog, and therefore to my life: As Dr. Pillemer summarized the elders’ view, “Travel is so rewarding that it should take precedence over other things younger people spend money on.” Create a bucket list now and start whittling it down. I realize how much...

WatchWatch
Video of the Joshua Tree National Park from my car. Don’t worry, as you’ll see I’m the only one on the road, I’m not going fast and I’m simply holding the camera up with my hand and keeping my eyes forward. Video by me. January 2012.

10 Reasons I'm Excited the NBA is Back
Finally getting to watch the OKC Thunder take the West. Da Bulls and Lupe Fiasco’s #SmelltheRoses Tweets about the greatness of Derrick Rose. This may be the last season I get to watch Steve Nash and Grant Hill play. Ricky Rubio’s passing and my fellow Arizona Wildcat Derrick Williams’ athleticism combine to make the Timberwolves more exciting to watch than the Lakers and the...

This has absolutely nothing to do with traveling,...
Three Men and a Baby is an amazing movie, if only for the awesome ’80s clothes. I mean check out this Tom Selleck look: Holy hipster Batman. Plus I saw an Internet rumor that there’s going to be a Three Men and a Bride! Check out the movie poster: Though I’m not sure about the casting for Mary, or if this is even true.

A Catalan Christmas - NYTimes →
The New York Times has a beautiful article on the Christmas traditions in Barcelona, Spain. My brief time in Barcelona was tainted by a very kind man who decided to steal many of my family’s possessions, but this article has made me want to go back over Christmas and feel the Spanish love.

Harvard and Stone
Not necessarily the most creative name, the bar’s on Harvard Street and the exterior of the building is stone, but the interior is a mix of dungeon (not in the S&M or creepy ways), nautical, go-go dancers and hipsters. Quite a strange cocktail. Harvard & Stone offers live music, but there isn’t a cover (score!). The band was so-so but the music the bar played when the band...
