1. Old Orchard Beach’s pier very deserted on a cold, rainy Sunday in April.

  2. Trying out my fisheye lens for my iPhone (it’s fabulous, get it here) at a very empty and gray Old Orchard Beach in Maine.

  3. My mom and I decided to make the drive up to Malibu for the last day of Dine LA. Dine LA is a couple of weeks every six months where nice (read expensive) restaurants set a prix fixe menu of an appetizer, entree and dessert for a low price so that people who wouldn’t normally get to eat there can.
Unfortunately, we learned that Duke’s doesn’t serve great food, though it does have a great location right on the beach.

  4. One of the prettiest boardwalks (not actually made of boards, it’s sidewalk) I’ve ever been on. Manhattan Beach, California.

  6. The sand in Barcelona has thoughts. And it’s thinking, “Please don’t litter on me.” Effective and chuckle-inducing.

  8. Some of the sights from a Santa Monica beach on July 5. My sister and I decided to relax in the sun for a day. We had a pretty good spot, near the Santa Monica Pier.

A helicopter kept flying closely overhead and a man beeped while searching for metal in the sand.

  9. Nothing about the Ironman in this post. Just the plain and simple beauty of a lake town. I could have sat on the beach forever, except for the fact that the water was freezing. Alright, not freezing, but 58 degrees isn’t exactly bathwater.

I love the deep purple-red color of the trees, the white unmanned lifeguard stands and the cute little “Tiki Hut” that serves shaved ices.
