Hey Followers!  Sorry I’ve been so lame and haven’t posted for a while, I got a little busy.

I know I’m on my tour de (the south of) France right now, but I have to pause for a bit while I show you one of the coolest places I’ve been in a while.

Two Hippies Magic Mushroom Burgers. Before you get too excited, I went here for my lunch break.  No actual “magic mushrooms” here.  Well, at least I didn’t partake.

Two Hippies was one of the best hamburgers I’ve had, and I’m not a burger kind of gal.

Located in midtown Phoenix, at 8th Street and Indian School Road, you can spot this burger joint from a mile away because of the part hot dog, part burger looking giant food item on its roof.

The inside of the restaurant lives up to its name.  It’s filled with everything from old postcards of Las Vegas hotels to an old bike used as wall art and posters of The Beatles and Che Guevara on the ceiling.

My favorite piece of wall art was a sign that went something like:

We take personal checks for less than $20 if you have 6 forms of ID and leave a fifty dollar deposit in case the check bounces.

It looks like a college stoner’s bedroom.  That might not sound like a great place to eat a meal, but it’s a lot cleaner than a pothead’s bedroom.

If you’re looking to take in some of the great Phoenix weather (not during the current summer season, of course), you can sit outside.

Aside from the atmosphere where you can spend hours inside and not look at the same thing twice, the food is excellent.

My dining companion used to work across the street from Two Hippies.  He said the place is so packed, during the nine months of the year when everyone hasn’t fled Phoenix for cooler weather, that you have to phone your order in advance.

I ordered the guacamole and swiss burger meal.  It ended up costing $6 for a drink, fries and a rather large burger.  The guacamole on my burger was so good, I swear it was made in Mexico.

My dining companion got the Good Ass Burger.  It was piled high with guac, bacon, chili and cheese.  There was not an ounce of that burger left after our meal either.

The Good Ass Burger is just one burger in the “Ass” family.  The others are the Kick Ass Burger, Hot Ass Burger, French Ass Burger and Hot Ass Burger.

Don’t worry, there’s also a Magic Mushroom Swiss Burger, if you’re looking for a true Two Hippies meal.

As you leave, make sure you don’t fall for the old Two Hippies humor - three coins stuck to the ground outside, just waiting for gullible patrons to try to snatch up.

Two Hippies Magic Mushroom Burgers is one in a family of Two Hippies restaurants in the Phoenix area.

Next on my list to try are:

  • Two Hippies Beach House Outrageous Tacos and Burritos
  • Two Hippies Pizzeria
  • Two Hippies Breakfast Joint
  • Two Hippies Pita Shack
