1. 10 Reasons I’m Excited the NBA is Back

    1. Finally getting to watch the OKC Thunder take the West.
    2. Da Bulls and Lupe Fiasco’s #SmelltheRoses Tweets about the greatness of Derrick Rose.
    3. This may be the last season I get to watch Steve Nash and Grant Hill play.
    4. Ricky Rubio’s passing and my fellow Arizona Wildcat Derrick Williams’ athleticism combine to make the Timberwolves more exciting to watch than the Lakers and the Heat. Well, to me at least, I think Los Angeles and Miami might disagree.
    5. Dwight Howard’s shoulders.
    6. Hearing the announcers say “Metta World Peace” instead of Ron Artest, and hoping that the announcers are using air quotes and rolling their eyes every time they say it.
    7. Witnessing the epic rise of LeBron’s headband. My psychic powers tell me he’s hiding quite the receding hairline.
    8. The Round Mound of Rebound’s awesome Weight Watchers commercial.
    9. The fact that I can barely understand Shaq on TNT.
    10. TNT showed my Tweet during the halftime show on Dec. 29!! Check it out:

    Also, there’s something about having the nation seeing my Twitter profile pic on TV that is making me question it…

    1. I’ve admitted to not being the coolest person on the planet. I’m a self-described travel nerd (and I’ve got the blog to prove it) with subscriptions to not one, but three travel magazines, while also maintaining a strict non-subscription-policy toward Cosmo, Glamour and the like.
But I’ve kept my news junkie, political nerd side to a minimum on here, with the exception being when I spotted the CNN Express bus in Phoenix.
However, yesterday I was tweeted by my favorite CNN news anchor TJ Holmes, second to only Christiane Amanpour! You can see the exchange above. Obviously I’m very sad that he is departing CNN for BET, a network that I don’t frequently turn to. But I think my sadness has been replaced by pure elation at his response to me.
I’ll now end my nerding out.

    2. Twitter-ers to follow

      If you’re as into Twitter as I am, and as into traveling as I am, here’s a couple Tweeters to follow:

      @WheresAndrew

      @EatingAsia

      Check them out by clicking the link, hopefully you’ll let them as much as I do. Obviously there are a ton more that I’m not aware of, but those are the individuals I follow. As for magazines/companies to follow, that list is longer:

      @CNTraveller (my personal favorite magazine!)

      @Good

      @LonelyPlanet

      @TravelChannel

      @NatGeo

      @TravlandLeisure

      @USATodayTravel

      If you have some great travel-related Twitter accounts you follow, please suggest them to me! I’d love to hear!

    About me

    Traveling, shopping and eating my way around the world. Or as far as I can go! And sharing the tales of my travels with whoever will listen.
